Humanitarian and Compassionate (H&C) is a program run by the Government of Canada to allow certain individuals who do not meet the standard requirements for immigration to Canada to be still able to apply for permanent residency.
The H&C program is designed for individuals already in Canada and facing difficult or exceptional circumstances that prevent them from returning to their home country. This can include factors such as medical issues, family separation, or discrimination.
To be eligible for the H&C program, an individual must demonstrate that they would experience unusual and undeserved or disproportionate hardship if they were to return to their home country. The hardship assessment is based on several factors, including the person's family ties, community connections, length of time in Canada, and the impact of their departure on their children.
To apply for the H&C program, an individual must submit an application to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) along with supporting documents demonstrating their situation. The process can be complex, and it is recommended to seek the assistance of an immigration lawyer or consultant.
